I know what you mean, Shields. Being a parent is not a straight forward thing at all. That’s why I encourage parents to start with teaching their child to notice what’s great about them. It’s just a habit of thinking that needs to start with the parents. If parents are noticing what’s great, then they can teach the child to notice what’s great.

Helping children feel proud of themselves is extremely important. We as adults are responsible for teaching children to overcome adversities and continue to feel positive about themselves. The way a person deal with adversity can either lift or lower the self esteem of that person. Teaching children to deal with advertisy at a young age will help them develop the strength to be successful.
